EEC 2016 (history)

On October 4, 2016, the Provincial Executive of Drenthe updated the EHS (Ecological Main Structure). The map of the National Ecological Network is part of the Provincial Environmental Ordinance. The ecological connections are part of the EHS. The defense sites with natural values are also indicated on the map. These are sites that are worthy of the EHS on the basis of the current values. Based on the existing natural values and the cohesion as part of a well-functioning EHS, the following Defense sites in Drenthe have special natural values: the training grounds De Haar and Havelte-West and the ammunition depot in Ruinen. These areas, which are not part of the EHS, are now included on the map of the EHS under the "defense area with natural values". Within these areas there are no restrictions on military use and the design for military use. The designation does have a signaling function for spatial developments that are not related to military use. When military use ends, there are serious arguments for adding these areas to the EHS.
