POV, quiet area and groundwater (history)

The term quiet area originates from the Noise Abatement Act (Staatsblad, 1979). Quiet areas were defined therein as areas in which the noise exposure due to human activities is so low that the natural sounds prevailing in that area are not or hardly disturbed. In 1993, the article about quiet areas in the Noise Abatement Act was abolished and the legal framework was adopted in the Environmental Management Act. The quiet areas are part of the Drenthe Provincial Environmental Ordinance of 14 April 2011.
