Blueport and Dryport (Environmental vision 2014) (history)

Version of Blueport and Dryport adopted by the Provincial Council of Drenthe on July 2, 2014. Blueport: Meppel has the largest inland shipping container terminal in the Northern Netherlands. In collaboration with Meppel, the province of Drenthe wants to further strengthen Meppel's function as a multimodal hub for the transshipment of containers and bulk goods through the Blueport project.Dryport: The province of Drenthe is committed to an improved connection to the German main road network and the possibility for people - and freight transport by rail. This emphasizes the position of Emmen-Coevorden as a logistics hub. Together with the municipalities of Emmen and Coevorden and the business community, the province is working through the Dryport project to create added value from the transport of goods along, from and to the region.
