Air quality - Immission traffic 2021 Particulate matter (PM2.5)

The file provides a picture of the air quality in terms of particulate matter (PM2.5) around national, provincial and municipal roads in Gelderland for the year 2021. The data has been calculated nationally using the reporting tool. The concentration at 10 meters from the edge of the road is indicated for each road section. The air quality is presented in five concentration classes. For the annual average PM2.5 concentration, a limit value of 25 µg/m3 applies from 2015. In addition, for 2020 there is an 'indicative limit value' for the annual average of 20 µg/m3. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends 10 µg/m3 as a safe standard according to the latest scientific insights. The air quality is calculated, among other things, on the basis of traffic counts and calculation models. The sources, such as industry and agriculture, are included in the background concentration. The direct contribution from road traffic is also included in the total concentration. The values calculated with the model have an inaccuracy of 20-25 percent.
