Potential shallow geothermal Rhineland Group contour

Commissioned by the province of South Holland, IF-Technology carried out the study "Potential geothermal energy in South Holland", 2 December 2016. This map shows the potential of the Rijnland Group. The depth of this formation increases in a southwesterly direction from 500 m in the northeast to about 2,000 m in the southwest. The potential for shallow geothermal energy (OGT) is defined as the amount of groundwater that can be extracted from the subsoil at a location for the supply of heat (flow rate in m³/h). Geothermal energy is also known as geothermal heat.
