Geothermal signaling map

The signaling map shows the potential of deep geothermal energy based on rough assumptions. Deep geothermal energy (also known as geothermal heat) is a technique for extracting warm water (60-100?) from the earth by drilling 1000-4000 meters deep. A geothermal system consists of a 'doublet'; a deep well from which hot water is extracted and a deep well into which the cooled water is returned. Above ground, the installation takes up about half a hectare. Underground, the hot and cold wells are far apart, the total surface area required amounts to 1.5 by 3 kilometres. This requires careful planning of the systems to maximize their potential.
