Cultural-historical Main Structure: Settlements

The settlement is valued in three classes: Very high value: - building structure (house plots, building lines, road and plot ditches, possibly bridges) is intact; - the historic buildings themselves have been preserved intact; - the number of national monuments is relatively high here; - little new construction between or behind the original buildings. The protected town and village views fall into this category. High value: - building structure (house plots, building lines, road and plot ditches, possibly bridges) is intact; - the historic buildings themselves are less intact; - the percentage of monuments is lower than in the 'very high value' category; - here and there the existing buildings have been replaced by new ones. Reasonably high value: - building structure (house plots, building lines, road and plot ditches, possibly bridges) is intact; - the historic buildings are clearly less intact than in the above categories; - new buildings have appeared in several places, mainly to replace the existing buildings. The centers where the building structure is no longer sufficiently intact (the plot and building line have been affected, ditches have been filled in, bridges have been demolished, new construction between and behind the original buildings disrupts the relationship with the hinterland) have not been appreciated. Criteria used in this valuation are intactness, rarity and coherence between buildings and between buildings and surroundings or hinterland.
