Main Cultural-Historical Structure: Global Castle Biotopes

The still visible castle grounds in the province are of great significance for the cultural history of South Holland. They also often form - as with their green character - rest areas in the urban area. To ensure that this unique cultural heritage is not lost, the province has set up a so-called 'castle biotope'. The castle biotope consists of: - the castle/castle grounds itself, in the form of ruins, remnants of walls, one or more outbuildings, moated grounds, etc. - the field of view, the space required to experience the castle/castle grounds - the basic structure where the castle/ castle grounds are linked to: watercourse, road, or both - any connecting piece and any open space between the castle location and the basic structure (e.g. avenue, lawn) - the outlines of the original landscape context - the remnants of any country estate period, if any spatially related to the castle location Global castle biotopes, determined by PS as part of the Vision on South Holland - Spatial Regulation. This file concerns the outer boundary of the biotopes and has descriptive attributes of the biotope.
