Light Emission 2018

The map shows how much light was visible in the Netherlands at night in 2018, viewed from above, expressed in 10-10 Watts per cm2 per steradian. In areas that glow red, a lot of light is emitted, such as in the greenhouse area in South Holland. In other areas, such as in the north of the Netherlands, little light is emitted apart from the cities. Lighting in the evening and at night makes it possible for us to be active for longer (sports, going out) and contributes to traffic and social safety.
