Statistical Sectors of Belgium
The term 'statistical sector' was introduced in 1970 by the National Institute of Statistics (NIS). Previously, the municipality was the smallest administrative entity for which socio-economic data was available. The statistical sectors divide the territory of Belgium on the basis of morphological and/or socio-economic characteristics. The boundaries of statistical sectors usually coincide with elements or administrative divisions that are recognizable in the field. Many detailed inventories are generalized to information at the level of the statistical sector. This data product contains the vectorial data of the most recent version of the Statistical sectors, generalized version, of the General Directorate of Statistics - Statistics Belgium.
