Berlin urgently needs additional school places. This is why modular extension buildings, called "MEB" for short, have been used for several years. They offer teaching, sharing and specialist rooms according to the latest standards and can be realized particularly quickly due to their construction. They have 12, 16 or 24 general classrooms and correspond to the quality standard of conventional school buildings. The modular extension buildings are barrier-free and equipped with interactive whiteboards in many rooms. In the attractively colored buildings, the teachers have so-called bases and the students each have a group or shared room. Specially developed MEBs were set up for schools with a special educational focus on “mental development”. They are characterized by open study areas with sloping walls, relaxation rooms, special door handles and sanitary facilities.
