Cultural-historical Main Structure: Old town and village centres

This file contains the old centers of South Holland. The current town and village centers are often of medieval origin (1500 to 500 years ago). Layers of habitation from different centuries lie on top of each other here. The soil archive in these cores therefore contains very important information about their history. The map shows the size of towns and villages around 1850. This was followed by a period of large-scale changes in the industrial era.
