Iconic heritage - Historical landmarks

This historic landmarks map shows buildings that, when seen from a distance, are landmarks for a town, city or region because of their height. To arrive at this selection, categories of buildings from the national monument register and the cultural-historical atlas were checked and assessed on the basis of their height. These are buildings that usually have a considerable height, such as windmills, churches, water towers, industrial buildings, country houses and castles, bridges, town halls, lighthouses, gates, offices, fortress towers and watchtowers.
